Victoria Tennis Group Game Styles:
We frequently play games depending on the number of players who attend and best match setup available. Types of matches used are:
2-2 Mixed Doubles:
We don't strictly play man/woman vs man/woman in our doubles games, but we will combine teams based on who is attending and try to balance team strengths as best as possible.
In this game, we usually play a full Set then rotate players so that all players get to play with all the other players.
A Set is declared when first team wins 6 games with at least 2 point spread.
If both teams get to a tie at 6-6, then a tie breaker game is played and the winner of that game is declared the set winner. Tie breaker games follow normal tennis rules.
1-1 Singles:
This is a set played with one player versus another. The Set is played to 6 games same as in doubles with a tie breaker if needed.
Following a set, we usually rotate players with others attending if available.
2-1 Australian Tennis:
This is usually played when we have odd number of players attending. It is actually quite fun to play in this mode.
The Set is played by having 2 players play against the third. The player playing by himself also serves on that game. Following the game completion, the players rotate, so that a new single player is identified for the next game.
The Score is recorded only for when the players are playing as single player. The set is declared when the first player to reach 6 wins with 2 point spread is reached. Scoring will look something like this: 6-4-2 (a point total for each of the three players).
The court lines for doubles is used on the side where the 2 players are playing, and single lines for the side where the single player is playing.
4+1 Games:
In the case where 5 players attend, we play 4 players in a doubles match with 1 player sitting out.
After each game, all players rotate one position clockwise and last player that served the game will now sit out allowing the player previously out to join the game.
Score is counted individually with each player getting 1 point for every game won. The first player to get to 6 points wins the set.
